Hello, lovelies! I hope you all have been having a wonderful winter season (or summer season for my southern hemisphere readers)! I recently returned from a week-long vacation to the beautiful mountains of Murphy, North Carolina. It was such a peaceful and lovely trip that I felt so rejuvenated by the time I returned home. Gorgeous Views
I have always been someone who prefers living near the beach vs. the mountains, but that certainly does not mean I don't like visiting the mountains! There's something so refreshing about the crisp mountain air and the gorgeous views. If you're looking for a calming, quiet type of vacation, a small mountain town is probably one of your best bets. Plus, it's often hard to beat some of the sunsets and sunrises that you can find there!
Small Town Shopping
I always have a fun time checking out the local shops and city center of small towns. I find that there's usually a wider variety of items to peruse than one might expect. Plus, small town boutiques often have the cutest holiday decorations! One shop that I checked out in Murphy was Indigo Mountain Traders. They offered a lot of different items, such as blankets, home decor, apparel, and other accessories. It was interesting to browse the aisles as so many of the items for sale had such a rustic, earthy vibe.
I loved seeing all the winter and Christmas decorations in each little shop. Everything seemed so cozy and quaint. There's just something so comfy and warm about this kind of decor. It makes me want to snuggle up with a fluffy blanket and a cup of tea.
Also, how cute are these fairy jars? They had little lights inside of the jars to (literally) brighten them up. I thought these were so adorable! They would be great as a children's gift or as an addition to a fairy garden.
Also, if you're ever in the area and are a fan of crystals, I would definitely check out Bear Creek Gem Mining. There's tons of gems, crystals, shells, and fossils that you are able to sift out of dirt (sort of like a gold prospector from the old west). Needless to say, I was obsessed with my loot of crystals. They also offer mini golf which was also a fun time!
Fresh Faced Mountain Makeup
So, I did not get a lot of time to photograph my outfits during this trip. So, I thought I'd share what my daily makeup routine looked like for the trip. I took the approach of a "no-makeup" makeup look during this vacation. I felt that it meshed better with the natural vibe of the location as well as the activities I was participating in.
For my skin, I really just focused on wearing SPF and a light foundation. I kept it relatively simple with my eye makeup, only using an eye shadow pencil like this one and one of my new favorite mascaras. Finally, I finished off the look with this nourishing lip tint which I've been loving recently.
Needless to say, I had a lovely experience in Murphy, NC. If you're looking to visit a quiet and peaceful small town with gorgeous sights and a cute city center, definitely add Murphy to your consideration list!
